Chinese New Season Event Lights Up The City

Firecrackers, feasts, and fantastic a dragon is among some of the many Asian social pleasures set to mark the start of the new lunar year at the first China New Season Victoria Event, operating from 6 – 21 Feb 2016.

Unifying the city’s Season of the Goof celebrations and introducing a natural social encounter for residents and visitors as well, The China New Season Victoria Event will offer 16 days of brilliant celebrations full of social activities, marketplaces, trips, enjoyment and many more.

The Event links multiple China New Season activities and activation’s across the town from Chinatown to Federation Rectangle, South Gate Victoria, Top Victoria, Docklands, King Victoria Industry and The Resort Windsor.

Chinese New Season Victoria Event Program Highlights:

Federation Square:
6 – 7 February: The Federation of China Organizations will be holding its China lifestyle display presenting China Martial Arts, children’s handcrafts and lantern artwork at Federation Rectangle. A tasty Street of China Delicacies will also be present with 20 types of China recipes to a flavor. Entertainment contains China lion dancing, drumming, children’s activities, live music and a youngsters hip-hop competition. Stallholders will be selling China cuisine.

4 – 14 February: Fairfax Media is introducing The Age Lunar Markets at the Docklands precinct, a no cost to be present at pop-up meals festival offering delightful Asian cuisine and a range of outside cafes and enjoyment over 11 evenings.
8– 21 February: Discover Docklands and follow the China New Season pathway of lighting and discover the red lamps, area of moons and stars, playing pandas, safari face covers, boy and girl lamps and the massive Arizona set up.
8 February: Enjoy China New Season with roving lion and monster dances, 100 % free children’s art activities such as lantern creating and face artwork.
Harbour Town Victoria, Victoria Star Statement Rim, O’Brien Group Field, New-quay, and Collins Rectangle will all join the party of the Season of the Goof with special deals and activation’s.

7 – 21 February: Lots of celebrations consist of lion dancing delights of the shops, China-Australia lifestyle, and wandering artists. On China New Season there is the China New Season Eve Close relatives Day contains Outdoor Theatre and Countdown to Late night (7 Feb).
8 February: Master Chef comes to Chinatown.
14 February: The Victoria Dai Loong Organization, custodians of the monster party custom, are heralding the Spring Event and the New Season with the Century Dragon Parade through the roads of Victoria.

Queen Victoria Market:
2 – 20 February: A three week initial will consist of impressive Opera Cover up lighted totems throughout the precinct; a conventional lion dancing (Tues 16 Feb, 12:30 pm); an exceptional monster dancing during the Summer Night Industry (Wed 17 Feb, 8 pm); and the amazing Red Lantern Event on Weekend 20 Feb, which contains a hawker market of conventional Asian meals booths, roving activities and lantern creating classes. The marketplace will also be operating the two hours Fortunate Goof Industry trip in British and Mandarin. Visitors will be able to flavor their way around the market and listen to experiences from local China investors. Tours operate Fri 19 and Sat 20 Feb.

Yarra River:
6 – 21 February: Come and see Australia’s biggest lighted Dragon Head at Eureka Sky deck Plaza Area. At South-gate Victoria there will be China Astrology lamps and along its people link there will be lovely lighted Pandas on the show. At Queens-bridge Rectangle, the Goof Posture Corridor set up will be placed on an expansion to Sand-ridge Pedestrian Bridge and a set up of lamps illustrating China Opera with a related soundscape will be located on the Queens-bridge Rectangle stage. Taste delightful treats from the Asian-inspired Food Truck.
19 – 21 February: Cultural activities such as lion dancing, monster dancing, and drumming are providing enjoyment at Queens-bridge Rectangle.

Crown Melbourne:
21 Jan to 21 February: See the amazing Astrology Amazing in the Atrium at Top Systems presenting 60 revoked conventional lamps, 12 massive zodiac animal lamps, and lucky kumquat plants. Free access.
5-7 February: Bring everyone to the yearly Hawkers’ Bazaar on the Top River walk, and enjoy meals and trinket booths, social activities and more. Free event.
6 February: A wonderful Fireworks Celebration at 9:45 pm greets the start of a new year.

The Resort Windsor:
7- 22 February: The Resort Windsor will variety a China New Year’s Eve Celebration, visitors will be provided ‘Eight Treasures,’ a unique selection of Asian affected treats, followed by eight-courses, created by culinary experts Fran Alderson and Adam Liston (7 February). During the two weeks of China New Season celebrations, the hotel’s famous Mid-day Tea will be provided with an oriental impact, and the place will be designed with Happy Percussion and stairwell lamps (8- 22 February).
